Sixteen low handicapped
golfers have entered this year's County Match Play
Championship.
Details of the draw for the
opening round can be seen below.

The opening round of this year's inter club
competition for the Dr Lowe Shield was staged at the
Bull Bay G C last Sunday, April 10th.
Each of the island's six golf clubs fielded
teams of eight with the best seven nett scores counting
towards the team total.
Team scores for the day were:-

The leading individual nett scores returned

The opening round of this year's inter club
Seniors team championship was played at the Holyhead G
C.
Team scores for the day, with each club fielding a seven
man team the best six stableford scores counting, were:-
Holyhead G C 171
Henllys Hall G C 162
Storws Wen G C 154
Bull Bay G C 151
Anglesey G C 146
Baron Hill G C 138
Trevor Jones of the Baron Hill club returned the best
individual score with 34 points playing off a handicap
of 14.
The second round of the competition is
listed for Baron Hiil G C on Thursday, May 12th.

The opening round of this
year's inter club competition for the Dr Lowe shield

Rawlinson shield will be played at Holyhead G C next
Thursday April 7th - details re order of play etc can be
seen below.

At the recently held Annual
General meeting of the Anglesey Golf Union Berwyn Owen
succeeded Baron Hill G C's Glyn Davies as President.
The new President is an active
member of the Anglesey G C Rhosneigr having been
Centenary Captain of the club in 2013-14. A native of
Llangefni he's also a member at the North Wales G C
Llandudno and a past member of Bull Bay G C.
Currently playing off a
handicap index of 17.9 he lists the putter as his
favourite club and the Sotogrande G C in Spain as the
favourite course he's played at.
In addition to golf he enjoys
cycling, walking, yoga and going to the gym and has as a
golfing ambition to still enjoy the game whilst able to
play it and names Tony Jacklin as his golfing hero.

After an absence of nearly two
years because of restrictions imposed by COVID,
competitive golf has returned.
The first inter club
competition, the Rawlinson Shield, is listed to start at
Holyhead G C on Thursday, April 7th and Bull Bay G C
will host the opening round of the Dr Lowe Shield the
following Sunday, April 10th.
Details of both the above
competitions have been circulated to clubs as has
details of the individual scratch match play
championship.
The order of play in both the
Rawlinson and Dr Lowe Shield competitions will be posted
on web site.

Union Presidency - 2022-24 |

The Annual General Meeting of
the Union will be held at the Bull Bay G C on Friday,
January 28th 2022 ...
At the A G M current
President, Glyn Davies of the Baron Hill G C will retire
from his post as President having completed his two year
term of office.
Presidency of the Union
rotates from one Anglesey club to another and the Union
would welcome a nomination of a member from the Anglesey
club to the post.
Recent members of the Anglesey
club to serve in this office have been R Adrian Jones
and O Parry both of whom contributed much to the
development of golf both on Anglesey and N Wales in
general.

Following on the Prime Minister's statement on March
23rd golf clubs and courses on Anglesey have closed.
This position is regrettable but highly necessary and a
responsible course of action which has been implemented
immediately and will be maintained until further notice.
AGU officials, in consultation with member clubs, have
agreed that the inter club competitions for both the Dr
Lowe Shield and Rawlinson shield will be cancelled in
2020.

Holyhead G C hosted a well attended Annual
General Meeting of the Union. Delegates representing all
the Anglesey clubs elected Glyn Davies of the Baron Hill
G C Beaumaris as President for 2020 and 2021.
The new President succeeds Neville Pritchard of the Bull
Bay G C whose two year term of office terminated.
The incoming President has been a member at Baron Hill
since 2008 and served as Club Captain in 2013 and is
currently Chair of the Greens Committee. He brings with
him to the post a wealth of experience having been a
past member at Rhos on Sea G C, Conwy G C, Weshpool G C,
Royal St Davids GC, Mold G C and St Deiniol G C before
joining Baron Hill G C. John Davies of the
Henllys G C succeeds retiring treasurer Ian Furlong
(Bull Bay G C) - Adam Williams (Henllys G C) remains
County Captain and the Union's other officials were re
elected for another term in office - Gareth P Jones
(Bull Bay G C) as secretary and Randall Richards as
junior organiser. John Davies of the Henllys G C will
continue as Rawlinson Shield organiser.
