 Rawlinson Shield Round 1
 

15/04/19

Storws Wen G C have taken the early lead in the inter club Seniors team competition for the Rawlinson Shield. Playing at the Baron Hill G C the Brynteg based club totalled 195 stableford points for the best six scores returned.

Team scores for the day were:

Storws Wen G C 195 pts
Baron Hill G C 190
Henllys GC 178
Holyhead G C 176
Bull Bay G C 175
Anglesey G C 151

The best individual score on the day was returned by seventeen handicapped W Hood of the Storws Wen club.

The next round of the competition is listed for Thursday May 9th at the Henllys G C.
 

 
 Host Club Lead After Opening Round

The Baron Hill G C hosted the opening round of the Dr Lowe Shield inter club competition and the team made the most of home advantage by taking an early lead in the competition.

Team totals with the best seven out of eight best nett scores counting towards each club's total were:

Baron Hill G C 515
Henllys Hall G C 521
Anglesey G C 540
Bull Bay G C 541
Storws Wen G C 555
Holyhead G C 575

The best individual nett score of the day was returned by Paul Matthews Jones (Baron Hill G C) with a score of 75 - 6 - 69 with Matthew Rankenhohn of the Henllys club winning the best gross voucher.

Henllys Hall G C will host the second round of the competition on Saturday April 27th.
 

 
 Rawlinson Shield

The opening round of this year's inter club Seniors team competition for the Rawlinson Shield will be played at the Baron Hill G C, Beaumaris this Thursday, April 11th

 Dr Lowe Shield

The opening round of this year's Dr Lowe Shield competition will be played at the Baron Hill G C Beaumaris this coming Saturday, April 13th. Each of the island's six golf clubs will field a team of eight golfers with the best seven out of eight nett medal scores counting towards each club's total.

 Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of the Union was recently held at the Henllys G C, Beaumaris. Delegates representing all the clubs on the island re elected all the officials to serve for the coming year.

H Neville Pritchard of the Bull Bay G C will serve the second year of his two year term of Presidency and Adam Williams of the Henllys club will continue as County team Captain. Randall Richards, also from of Henllys club, continues as junior organiser.

Ian Furlong and Gareth Jones, both from the Bull Bay G C, continue as treasurer and secretary respectively.

After nearly a quarter of a century Billy Davies of the Holyhead G C retired as Rawlinson Shield organiser and he was presented with a suitably engraved tankard to commemorate the event. Henllys G C's John Davies will undertake duties relating to the Rawlinson shield for the coming season.

The Union agreed to take on responsibility for the organisation of the popular inter club team competition for the Dr Lowe Shield - the opening round is listed for the Baron Hill G C on Saturday, April 13th.

Following the meeting delegates enjoyed an excellent meal provided by the Henllys G C's catering team and Mike Bryant (St Deiniol G C) President elect of G U W addressed the gathering.
